LIVE WEBINAR + REPLAY • £17 • $23

Nobody tells you what happens after the diagnosis.

The grief. The relief. The disorientation.

The strange feeling of becoming more autistic, not less.

This session is for the part that comes after the words are said.

  • Thursday 27th August 2026 at 11AM BST

  • 30-minutes + 15 minutes for Q&A

  • Replay available to everyone who registers

  • Come as you are, participate only how you feel comfortable.

Can't make it live? The replay is yours to keep.

In this session we cover:

  • Why relief and devastation arrive together And why both are a completely coherent response to having your whole life reframed.

  • Why things feel harder after diagnosis, not easier including the skill regression and identity confusion nobody warned you about.

  • What years or coping have actually cost you  and why rest, mindfulness, and generic advice have never quite touched it.

  • What beginning to support yourself differently looks like. Practically, and without overhauling your life all at once.

  • "GENUINELY so useful and spot on" Attendee, previous session

IS THIS FOR YOU?

If any of this sounds like where you are right now

  • You received your diagnosis and the emotional weight of it caught you off guard

  • You feel more autistic now than before you found out, and that's confusing and exhausting

  • People in your ife keep telling you to get back to the person you were before

  • You were diagnosed some time ago, but never had the space to process the emotional weight of it

  • You self-identify as autistic and have reached a strong, clear recognition of yourself

  • The grief surprised you. You expected relief, and the relief is real, but so is the grief

  • You are caught between worlds: too high-masking for some spaces, too autistic for others

  • You are a partner, parent, or family member wanting to understand someone you love

This is not a sign that something else is wrong. This is what happens when a whole life gets reframed at once, without a roadmap.

THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT FIT IF

  • You are looking for clinical support, therapy, or crisis intervention. This is general education, not clinical care.

  • You want a fixed curriculum with modules, milestones, and structured progress tracking.

  • You need someone to tell you whether you are autistic. This session does not diagnose.

  • You are looking for a high-energy, motivational event. This is quiet, thoughtful, and honest.

FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE USED IT

What people in this community said was hardest right now

More than 250 people answered one question. These are their words, not a researcher's catagories.

"Everything. Just getting out of bed because it means the day has started."

"Losing the ability to cope, mask, and work. After burnout number four or five."

"Pretending, small talk, busy places, constantly needing to adapt everything about myself just to look normal."

"My spare time is just recovery time. I don't get to have any fun."

"Feeling like everything is too much even when nothing major has happened."

"Understanding what I even want. Second guessing everything. not knowing who I really am."

"Everything" was the most common answer. "Life" was the second.

People were exhausted before they could even name it.

WHY NOTHING HAS QUITE TOUCHED IT

Here is what usually happens after a diagnosis. You are handed a piece of paper and sent back into your life.

Maybe you find a therapist. Maybe you buy books. Maybe you try mindfulness or rest or positive thinking or asking your GP what comes next.

And pieces of all of it help, slightly. But none of it quite sticks. And you start to wonder if you are just not trying hard enough, or not doing it right, or somehow too broken even for the things designed to help broken people.

You are not too broken. The support failed you. Here is why:

Generic therapy

Built for processing the past or managing symptoms. Not built for the specific identity work of late diagnosis.

Rest and self-care

Rest helps, but it does not explain why everything is so hard. Explanation is what cahnges the relationship to the difficulty.

Online autism content

Validates the experience but rarely addresses the emotional aftermath of late-diagnosis specifically. Recognition without a map forward.

Mindfulness and wellness

Stepped in neurotypical assumptions about regulation. May add to the load rather than reduce it for autistic nervous systems.

Learning more about autism

Necessary but not sufficient. Knowledge does not automatically translate into knowing what to do with your own life next.

Waiting for it to settle

Sometimes things do settle on their own. But the grief, the identity questions, the loneliness - those rarely resolve without a framework to hold them.

The problem was never your effort. It was that the support available was not built for your specific experience: a late diagnosis, a nervous system that has been overriding itself for years, and a life that now needs to be reread from the beginning.

WHAT THIS SESSION GIVES YOU INSTEAD

Capacity before change. Understand before act.

This session is not a coping strategies masterclass. It is not a list of things to try. It is a framework for understanding what is actually happening and why, built from over twenty years of behaviour science, ACT practice, and the direct experience of going through this myself at forty-nine. The six areas we cover were not invented. They came directly from what 250 people in this community said was hardest.

Capacity before change

Understanding what you are working with before deciding what to do differently. Not the other way around.

Function without judgment

Coping patterns that cost you were functional before we ask whether they are workable now. They made sense. They have a cost.

Notice before fix

Understanding what you are working with before deciding what to do differently. Not the other way around.

Small before big

Actions sized to your current capacity, not to a version of you that is fully recovered and functioning optimally.

250+

responses to "what feels hardest right now'

The six areas this session covers are drawn from what people in this community actually reported. Not a framework someone designed in a meeting. What you will hear has already been recognised by the people it is built for.

Melissa Booth-Simonsen

ACT Coach • Masters degree in behaviour science • Late-diagnosed Autistic

@creatingwith_melissa

"I spent over twenty years working with neurodivergent people and their families before I realised I am autistic too. The revelation reframed everything."

By the time I got to my own assessment I had spent months researching, taking questionnaires, and watching other people's experiences. But mostly I had spent months questioning my entire life. When the assessors said "congratulations, you are autistic," I was overwhelmed with emotion. Validation. Relief. And then, slowly, grief and anger too.

I spent weeks reframing everything, analysing my whole life through this new lens. I was less than two weeks shy of my fiftieth birthday. Nobody prepared me for any of that. This session exists because the emotional territory after diagnosis is real, significant, and almost completely underserved. I made it because I needed it myself, and it did not exist.

My background is in behaviour science and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. My approach is grounded in two decades of clinical practice and in the direct experience of going through this myself. Not theory. Not distance. The inside of what you are navigating.

THINKING IT THROUGH?

The thoughts that might be in your way right now.

"I don't know if I'm autistic enough for this."

No formal diagnosis is required. Self-identification is valid here. If the description resonates, you are welcome. The session was built from the experiences of people at every stage, pre-diagnosis, newly diagnosed, and diagnosed years ago who never had the space to process it.

"I'm in a crash right now. I probably won't be in a good enough state to show up."

That is exactly who this was built for. Camera off is fine. Chat-only is fine. Listening with your eyes closed is fine. And the replay is included so if it is a hard day, you can watch it on a different day entirely. You do not need to be well to benefit from this.

"I've tried things like this before and they didn't help."

Most resources for autistic adults are either too clinical, too generic, or built for someone else's experience. This session is built specifically for the post-diagnosis period, by someone who has been through it themselves, grounded in actual behaviour science. It is not wellness content dressed up in autism language

"£17 feels like a risk when I don't know what I'll get."

The replay means there is no pressure to be well enough on Thursday. You pay once and the session is yours. And if you watch it and feel it was not worth £17, email me within seven days and I will refund you in full. No questions asked, no form to fill in. Just an email.

"I'm not sure it's really for me specifically"

Email me before you buy: [email protected]. Tell me where you are and I will tell you honestly whether this session is a good fit. I would rather you not buy it than buy something that is wrong for where you are.

WANT ONGOING SUPPORT?

If this session resonates and you want someone alongside you for the next part

This session gives you the map. If you find yourself wanting someone to help you navigate it, that is what A Life That Fits coaching is for. A writing-based, low-demand coaching programme for late-diagnosed autistic adults, working at your pace, without mandatory video calls or rigid schedules. Built on the same capacity-before-change approach you will hear in this session.

Month-to-month. No long-term commitment required to start.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

Before you register

Do I need a formal autism diagnosis to attend?

No. This session is for late-diagnosed and self-identified autistic adults. If the description resonates, you are welcome. A formal diagnosis is not required.

What if I can't attend live?

The replay is included for everyone who registers. You can watch whenever your capacity allows, as many times as you like, with no expiry date.

Do I have to have my camera on or speak in the Q&A?

No. Camera off is completely welcome. You can participate via chat, or simply listen. The Q&A is optional and there is no pressure to speak or appear on screen at any point.

I was diagnosed a while ago. Is this still relevant?

Yes. Many people spend years after diagnosis without the space to process the emotional weight of it. This session is for anyone who has not had that space yet, regardless of when the diagnosis was.

What are the free resources mentioned?

Your First Map is a short reflection document for the days and weeks after diagnosis: four questions, space to write, no pressure. The Capacity Check-In is a two-minute daily snapshot you can return to anytime. Both are shared with everyone who attends or watches the replay.

What is a Life That Fits?

A Life That Fits is Melissa's writing-based, asynchronous coaching programme for late-diagnosed autistic adults. If the session resonates and you want ongoing support, you can find out more at positivestrategies.co.uk/coaching.

What is your refund policy?

If you watch the replay and feel the session was not worth £17, email [email protected] within seven days of the event date for a full refund. No questions asked.

I have accessibility needs. Can you help?

Please email [email protected] before purchasing and I will do everything I can to help. The session already includes live captions, camera-off participation, and a full replay.

You have been holding this alone for a while. The analysis, the reframing, the grief that arrived when you expected only relief. You do not need to keep doing that without a framework to hold it.

You deserve space to understand what just happened

Thursday 27 August at 11:00am BST. Replay included. 7-day guarantee. £17.
